Dear Ones,
Mary Mallette’s plan tonight is to go to Winston tomorrow late morning. The chemotherapeutic IV infusion will begin being administered upon admission for 5 days and an additional chemo pill will be taken for the full 28 day course of treatment.
During the inpatient portion, her medical team will assess her overall condition and our hope is she will be home in a week’s time or sooner and her care will continue to be co-managed locally.
The goal is to halt the spread of disease and extend the quality of her days. Her doctor's have offered a 30%+ chance & she's going to try it.
At any point in time, she may choose to leave inpatient care, discontinue treatment, and return home. None of us are guaranteed tomorrow, so with this in mind, she wants to see if she can continue to gain strength at Baptist with PT and OT, let the meds do their work, and have more time without sacrificing her quality of life.
Due to COVID restrictions, I will remain in isolation in the hospital with her. We will use all the tech tools at our disposal to stay in contact during this time.
She has spent the weekend with Kevin, George, (talking with her Robert), our Momma and immediate family, our Aunt Keller and our Columbia cousins. We had a lovely family communion with a dear friend. Ron has been with us all weekend and we have spent special time telling stories and loving and laughing and being together.
Her dear neighbors placed luminaries on her drive and sidewalk. With a heartful for their kindness and the unending message of love. BE THE LIGHT.
When fear rises, we choose love. Love endures❤️
